August 24, 2011. (Romereports.com) Just a few days after announcing that World Youth Day 2013 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, we now know the official slogan for the the next WYD.
Benedict XVI
"For World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, the theme will be based on Jesus' calling: 'Go and make disciples of all nations.' I ask for everyone's prayers while this important event is prepared.”
Brazil is the country with the most Catholics.
Aside from hosting World Youth Day in 2013, Rio de Janeiro will also host the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.
On September 2, 2011 the Vatican Information Service reported that Benedict XVI recalled the recent World Youth Day in Madrid, describing it as a magnificent expression of faith, both for Spain and for the whole world. He also announces the themes of forthcoming World Youth Days. Next year, when WYD will be celebrated at the diocesan level, the theme will be "Joy always in the Lord", while WYD 2013 in Rio de Janeiro will have as its theme: "Go and make disciples of all nations".
